Happy Commonwealth Day! The Duke and Duchess of Sussex spent their first engagement of the day at Canada House, to celebrate young Canadian's living around the UK.
As mentioned above, today is Commonwealth Day, the annual celebration of the Commonwealth of Nations. It is marked by an Anglican service in Westminster Abbey (which Harry and Meghan will attend later today), as well as various other engagements from the royal family. The Queen delivers an address to the Commonwealth, which is broadcasted throughout the world.
The Duchess met guests upon arrival.
Harry and Meghan spoke to young Canadians from a wide range of sectors including fashion, the arts, business and academia.
Harry is president of The Queen's Commonwealth Trust, while Meghan was named vice-president last week. The Sussex’s have great interest in the Commonwealth and I’m sure Meghan will be working a lot more closely with it in her role.
With thanks to Japanese Ginger for the ID, today Meghan wore a gorgeous custom version green coat from the Erdem Fall 2019 Collection. The founder of Erdem, Erdem Moralıoğlu, is Canadian, so it was a lovely touch! The coat features a button up fastening and black flowers embroidered on the dress. Underneath she wore a green dress, possibly by Erdem as well.
For shoes, Meghan went for her go to Aquazzura 'Deneuve' Black Suede Bow Pumps. The $750.00 heels come in a range of colours - Meghan owns them in black and blush. They are described: “Meghan Markle makes a strong case for the versatility of Aquazzura's 'Deneuve' pumps - she's worn this black pair on a number of occasions and royal visits. This pointed-toe style has been crafted at the label's Italian atelier from velvety smooth suede that's cutout at the sides and turns to reveal a ladylike bow at the back. Cushioned insoles help to balance out the 105mm stiletto heel.”
She paired the shoes with another go to piece of hers, her Givenchy Satin Clutch, which is currently sold out. The piece is set around a gold-tone metal frame, and features a jewelry clasp and retractable chain shoulder strap. Great to see this and her pumps back, they’re two of my favourite pieces she owns!
To acceorise, the Duchess choose a pair of Birks Yellow Gold and Opal Earrings, also sold out, which she wore on the day of the engagement.
And her Kismet by Milka Dangle Full Circles Bracelet, which retails for $700.00 And is crafted from 14k rose gold.
Harry and Meghan attended the Annual Commonwealth Service after. You can view details on Meghan's outfit here.
