Today, the Duchess of Sussex made a surprise appearance at WE Day UK, a global initiative that aims to encourage young people to take part in positive social change.
Prince Harry attended in his capacity as president of The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust, a new organisation launched last year. The trust champions, funds and connects young people who are leading social purpose ventures around the world by giving them a platform that funds their work and shares their ideas.
The Duke has been involved with WE Day for years and spoke at an event in 2014. An extract of Harry’s speech:
If we look at the world we’re living in, I know it can feel challenging sometimes, but your role is to shine the light. Every day you are inundated with an overexposure of advertising and mainstream media, social media and endless comparisons, distorting the truth, and trying to manipulate the power of positive thinking. But you don’t let them sway you. Because you don’t need to hide behind your device to share your voice. You confidently voice your opinions because you can embrace them proudly.
As my wife often reminds me with one of her favourite quotes by Martin Luther King Jr. - “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
Everyone cheered as Meghan joined Harry on the stage!
Due to lack of photos, at first it was hard to identify Meghan's outfit pieces. Now however, with the help of some of my favourite Meghan style blogs, progress has been made!
The Duchess wore a blazer from Ralph Lauren. It is the 'Parker' Cashmere Jacket, $2,990. The navy piece worked well with her ensemble. It is described: ''With equestrian-style hacking pockets and naval-inspired signature metal buttons, this American-made jacket combines two iconic RL references. Traditional men's tailoring techniques ensure it maintains its slim, waist-defining silhouette for years to come.'' It's made in Italy with a full silk lining and notch lapels.
It's thought Meghan wore her Rag & Bone Maternity Denim Skinny Jeans, available in £215.00 in limited sizing. ''When it comes to rag & bone jeans, the devil is in the details—from the signature “rb” embroidery logo to the indigo leaf design that graces the back of our denim rivets.'' The jeans feature an elastic side panel and are a classic maternity skinny jean.
For heels, it was Meghan's go to Manolo Blahnik 'BB' Pointy Toe Pumps. They're available in all sorts of colours from yellow to taupe, featuring an alluringly low-cut topline and a wrapped stiletto heel.
Now onto accessories! What Meghan Wore did amazing work identifying her ring and several of her bracelets. I've listed all the jewelry below -
6. Lauren Gold Tone Chain Link Bracelet (sold out).
I wanted to include a bit about Meghan's WE Minga bracelet. In Ecuador, a minga is a call to action: a community coming together for the greater good. It's inspired by weaving traditions in the Amazon!
Hope you enjoyed today’s post, plus the fact I went into more detail on her outfit! Hope you‘re all having a splendid day :)
